Acting uses your whole body! This process-oriented class employs Anna Halprin’s Tamalpa Life-Art technique, similar to Method acting, to help participants discover and convey a character’s emotions.
Class incorporates expressive movements, meditative centering, acting exercises, drawing, word play and other creative activities. First-time performers welcome.
This class is offered at and through the Sunnyvale Recreation Center. Wear fitting comfortable clothing. Bundle hair away from face. Class will be conducted bare feet or ballet slippers.
Note: The Monday class tends towards more innocent pieces (past productions include Beauty and the Beast, What a Knight!), the Friday class works on more mature works and from renown literature or opera (past productions include The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Les Miserables, The Magic Flute, The Trojan Horse)

HaoExpression theater production is a mother/daughter (and son) story. Hao and her daughter Serena share a passion for literature and classical arts, and together they have put on stages their favorite classics: from The Little Prince, The Trojan horse, The Magic Flute, Les Miserables, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Excalibur. Serena reads the books and writes the scripts, and Hao adds movement scores. After the performances mother and daughter make books of quotes with pictures from their productions.
